The First Foreign Company Awarded Japan’s JIA Certification for Biomass Pellets

Wood Pellet Siam (WPS) was established in 2015 as a subsidiary of IES and has since dedicated its operations to trade biomass fuels internationally. Through continuous cooperation with local supply partners and the Quality Assurance department of Japan Gas and Appliances Inspection Association (JIA), WPS has been recognized as the first foreign trading company to be certified under the Japanese Forestry Agency’s guideline, after having obtained a certification of woody biomass for power generation for its wood pellet supply capacity of 30,000 tons per year. This allows our pellets to be categorized as ‘General Wood’ under Japan’s Feed-in-Tariff scheme and utilized in Japan’s power plants and capitalize maximum benefits.

Following the success of our first JIA certification, an expansion plan is set to certify our wood pellets of up to 150,000 tons per year.

Effectively Utilizing Sustainable and Locally-sourced Rubber Wood

Our wood pellets are produced using 100% legally and sustainably-sourced Rubber wood, procured through our network of trusted local suppliers in the south of Thailand. Having been tested by SGS, an internationally accredited inspection organization, we can ensure that our wood pellets are not only high in density but also low in moisture content, allowing them to be burned at very high combustion efficiency – a minimum net calorific value of 3,900 kcal per kilogram.
