About
Somboon is responsible for new business origination and all project development. As one of the founding member in 2011, he leads a young, active business development team and is responsible for company growth strategy.

His unconventional approach and dynamic business model benefits shareholders and grassroot stakeholders alike. He also heads the growth of IES’ Japanese energy business, Impact Solar business and other development pipeline in the same comprehensive capacity.
Experience
As a career professional, Somboon started his journey in energy sector since he graduated in 2008 with oversaw the award-winning development of the 84 MW Lopburi Solar Project. Since the project’s infancy until its commissioning, his scope of work was all-encompassing and his dedication unmatched. From PPA discussion and application, EPC negotiations and feasibility studies, to energy yield calculations, technology assessments, and overall development, Somboon steered the project towards success including a CDM registration with TGO Crown Standard Award from TGO and PFI Project Financing of the year.

After founding IES in 2011, he has involved in over 1,000 MW of clean energy project developments and transactions in Asia Pacific. His contribution leads IES business expansion including a portfolio of solar projects in Japan, biomass fuel project in Thailand, wind project development in Laos, and recently the first mover in Thailand’s private solar rooftop business through Impact Solar Limited.

His story and professional career has been globally recognized by Asian Development Bank, awarded “The New Energy Leader 2017” in November 2017.

He is currently driving IES to enter the new energy horizontal of retail business with the ambition to improve people accessibility to clean and affordable energy by providing a mechanism that ease the prosumer ecosystem - producing, consuming, and sharing energy.
